Mrs. George at Work

I've been teaching for 26 years now, and I still love it. It's one of the few jobs where you get paid to learn!  I've recently finished my masters in the art of teaching English at the University of Idaho. I love my students and finding new ways to help them learn. I also love to read, write, and play with technology.

My newest project is writing a book about my parents' love story. I've just finished and it will soon be available on Blurb.com. Check out the page under MSG Creative called An Ordinary Life. You can hear sound clips of my mom telling her own story.

My Philosophy

I believe that all students have the right to learn. I'm convinced that providing engaging opportunities for inquiry while teaching the strategies needed for critical thinking can enable all students to learn. My hope is to encourage all of my students to become life-long learners and contributing members of our community.

My Background

I graduated from Caldwell High School in Caldwell, Idaho in 1982. I earned my BA in English from Idaho State University in 1986, and certified in secondary education in 1989. I completed my student teaching in Ashton, Idaho, and taught junior high English in St. Anthony, Idaho for two years. I've been teaching in  Orofino since 1996. I completed my M.A.T. (Masters in the Art of Teaching English) at the  University of Idaho in 2016.
